About this draft

This draft describes Global Fishing Journal, which is publicly available to readers. The legal operator, country of establishment and public privacy contact have not yet been supplied. This draft remains under review and is not a finalized privacy notice. Public availability does not mean the site is indexed by search engines or that audience analytics are enabled.

Information used by the journal

The application has no reader registration, comments, checkout, advertising network or audience analytics installed. Public reading does not require an editor account. Editorial tools and the publishing connection are restricted to the authenticated owner through the hosting platform. For signed-in editorial access, the application reads the account identifier, email and, when provided, full name from the hosting platform. The identifier and email support editor authorization; the name or email may be used as the signed-in display name. Article edit records retain an editor identifier and timestamps; scheduled publishing stores content and operational reports.

We use this information to control editing, store articles and investigate publishing problems. Hosting and authentication providers also process requests and may keep access or security logs. Their exact data, retention periods, locations and contractual arrangements still need verification before this notice can be finalized. This notice does not claim that the platform sets no cookies.

Photographs and people pictured

The journal also stores and displays owner-supplied fishing photographs and their credits. These may include recognizable adults and children. The photographs came from the owner, not a public upload form. The owner authorized their use on this website; that permission does not by itself establish every pictured person's privacy or publicity permissions. For the photographs already publicly displayed, the operator must document the applicable basis for using identifiable images, any necessary permissions and how people can raise a concern.

Weather, locations and external services

Choosing a featured fishing area updates the address in your browser. Manually entered coordinates stay in the page's state; the application does not request your device's location. Reloading clears those custom coordinates.

There are no embedded weather maps or third-party weather scripts. For supported featured U.S. locations, the page sends a place identifier and unit preference to our server. Our server requests the National Weather Service forecast for that location and caches the result for up to 15 minutes. The application does not forward your browser’s IP address to NWS. The forecast refreshes every 15 minutes while the page is open. Custom coordinates are used only to build an outbound forecast link and are not sent to a weather provider until you follow that link.

International forecasts, official warning services and other external weather links open on the provider’s website only when selected. Those visits send normal browser connection information and any coordinates included in the link to that provider, whose own privacy practices apply.

Tide queries send a selected station, date and units to our server. Our server requests NOAA predictions and caches results for up to 30 minutes. The application does not forward your browser's IP address to NOAA with that request. External websites have their own privacy practices.

Article covers load from the journal’s own site address. Clicking image-source or other external links opens the provider’s website. Hosting-provider storage and request behavior still require review for this publicly available site.

Retention, rights and contact

Editorial records remain in the site's database until maintained or removed. A documented retention and deletion schedule, including backups and provider logs, has not yet been approved. The operator must still establish the appropriate processing grounds, retention periods, provider relationships and any cross-border safeguards.

Rights and complaint routes depend on the laws that apply. The completed notice must identify the operator and contact route and explain applicable access, correction, deletion, objection and consent-withdrawal rights. For now, the owner can raise a privacy question through the existing project conversation; this is not a substitute for a public privacy contact.

Future changes

Advertising, affiliate tracking, external newsletter delivery or payments would change how information is handled. Their privacy disclosures and any required choices must be implemented before those features are activated.
