Decision 70/2026 was published on 12 April 2026 and took effect the next day, with transitional provisions for existing licences and compliance. Article 10 restricts returning caught aquatic life to sea with specified exceptions; Article 139 requires amateur licensees to follow the regulation. How those provisions apply to adult giant trevally catch-and-release on a particular recreational trip still needs confirmation from the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries Wealth and Water Resources. Before booking, confirm the permitted procedure for your licence, vessel and fishing area. The giant-trevally guide’s “Prepare the release before departure” section gives handling advice, not confirmation that adult release is legally permitted. The daily/annual licence service does not resolve that question.
